The World Series of Poker Paradise continues today at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. Following Allan Melo's victory in Event #2: Millionaire Maker in Paradise, the series presses on, with action in Event #1: Mystery Millions and Event #3: GGMillion$ High Roller currently ongoing.
The five starting flights of the Mystery Millions tournament managed to hit the $5,000,000 guarantee offered up by the WSOP, but only just. The 3,446 entrants generated a prize pool of $5,169,000 and the event paid 338 places, with $420,000 up top for the eventual winner.
Maria Ho tops Mystery Millions chip counts
According to the latest updates from the WSOP+ app, Maria Ho leads the pack of hopefuls with 2,515,000 chips (167 big blinds). Other notables with big stacks in the field include: Jesse Lonis (100 BBs); Taylor von Kriegenbergh (94BBs); 2021 WSOP Main Event Winner Koray Aldemir (83 BBs); Daniel "Jungleman" Cates and Jans Arends (80 BBs); and Jose Ignacio "Nacho" Barbero (68BBs).
Hellmuth still in the hunt
Phil Hellmuth's hunt for bracelet #18 isn't over yet in this event. He's not one of the big stacks in the room, but he's far from one of the shorties with a comfortable stack of 37.6BBs. For Hellmuth, a master of the short stack maneuvers, it doesn't matter where you are in the chip counts with 280+ players still left. The only thing Hellmuth cares about is who has all the chips when it's over.
Hellmuth took to social media just a few hours earlier to announce his presence on Day 2 as "the world's most powerful dragon." Apparently, Hellmuth's dragon-like focus didn't alert him to the WSOP Paradise Parlay promotion and Allen Kessler had to fill him in to let him know he'd won an extra $5,000 for cashing the event.
Hellmuth also finds himself on the hunt for bounties in this event, already claiming one soul in the process.
Big names in the GGMillion$ High Roller Championship
Meanwhile, in Event #3: GGMillion$ High Roller Championship the crushers and end-bosses of the poker world are out in full force. The GGMillion$ offers a unique--for high roller tournaments that is--multi-flight structure that boasts two Day 1s for players to choose from.
As of now, Day 1A has already attracted 207 entrants, with late registration still open, and looks on track to hit the $10,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The United Kingdom's Lewis Spencer holds a commanding lead over the field with upwards of a million chips, good for 206BBs at the current level. Other notables with big stacks include 2013 WSOP Main Event Winner Ryan Reiss (138BBs); old-school legend Erik Seidel (103BBs); Jason Mercier (87BBs); Ben Heath (85BBs); Nick Petrangelo (74BBs); Darren Elias (62BBs); and Jonathan Little (53BBs).
