The World Series of Poker, in conjunction with its international online partner, GGPoker, has announced a new Bahamas-based tournament series, WSOP Paradise. The new series will make its debut December 3-14, 2023, at Atlantis Paradise Island, across Nassau Harbor from downtown Nassau itself.
The 12-day series will include 15 bracelet events, and the overall series will guarantee at least $50 million in prize money. $15 million of that will be guaranteed for the festival's $5,000 main event, and another $5 million is guaranteed for a $1,500 mystery-bounty event that will also be part of the series.
Three separate high-roller events also headline WSOP Paradise's debut. One of these is a $100,000 buy-in event with a $5 million prize-pool guarantee, the second is a $50,000 buy-in tourney with $2 million in guaranteed money, and the third is one of GGPoker's branded GGMillion$ series, which at Atlantis carries a $25,000 buy-in and a $10 million guarantee, the second largest of the festival.
Two PLO events, each guaranteeing at least a million dollars in prize money, have also been announced in general terms. The dates of each event and the complete WSOP Paradise schedule will be released at a later date.
“The summer was an unprecedented success, but the vision is equally as ambitious for WSOP Paradise,” said Ty Stewart, SVP & Executive Director of the WSOP. “We have the strongest online partner in the world, and they are set to send a record number of qualifiers to a live tournament. Atlantis also has a great legacy in poker, and we believe this combination of partners can deliver poker’s most powerful new franchise for years to come. Many players say summer in Vegas is the best time of year. We hope that will only be rivaled by winter in paradise.”
GGPoker's online partnership with the WSOP contributed significantly to the WSOP's record-setting Main Event attendance. Of the Main's 10,043 entrants, 774 of them earned their seats via international qualifiers on GGPoker. GG has promised to send at least 1,000 qualifiers to WSOP Paradise events.
“GGPoker is delighted to launch WSOP Paradise and welcome hundreds of players from all over the world to Atlantis Paradise Island this December,” said Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker Global Ambassador. “It’s going to be an absolutely amazing experience, the best of poker at one of the world’s most luxurious resorts!”
The series also marks the 25th anniversary of the Atlantis Paradise Casino, which has had a rich association with prominent poker events over the past two decades. Special events honoring the resort casino's quarter century of operations will also be ongoing while the WSOP Paradise series is at the venue.
