Brazilian poker star Yuri Dzivielevski has continued his torrid 2021 in a special way, by winning two separate PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) events in a single day. Playing as "theNERDguy", Dzivielevski double-dipped the WCOOP on Saturday. He first won Event #80-H, the $10,300 NLHE 8-Max PKO High Roller. Hours later, he followed that up by taking down Event #88-H, the $2,100 NLHE 8-Max, Turbo PKO tourney.
The wins were the sixth and seventh WCOOP titles of Dzivielevski's online career. The high-roller victory was worth $265,918, while the turbo PKO triumph brought him another $83,250. Dzivielevski had already picked up his fifth WCOOP title early in the series. He won Event #13-H, $1,050 FLO8 8-Max, for $23,898.
The $350,000 in combined winnings on Saturday pushed Dzivielevski's career online winnings to nearly $14.5 million. It also continues a very special month within this outstanding year for Dzivielevski, who at the start of September signed on with partypoker as one of their South American brand ambassadors.
Dzivielevski celebrates on Twitter
Dzivielevski quickly posted news of his back-to-back WCOOP wins on Twitter via his @YuriNerdguy account:
According to PokerStars, it's only the second time that a player has claimed two WCOOP titles in a single day. The first such instance occurred just a few days earlier, when the Netherlands' "Fisherman FV" took down WCOOP-68-M: $55 Mixed NLHE/PLO and #72-M: $109 Stud within a three-hour span. Several players have logged daily doubles in Stars' other oversized online series, the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). Until 2021, however, no one had achieved a WCOOP double.
With seven WCOOP titles, Dzivielevski also moves high on the list of career WCOOP title winners. Stars' career lists are not completely up to date, but Dzivieleski trails at least two other WCOOP players. Russia's Denis “aDreNalin710” Strebkov has won nine WCOOP events beginning in 2014. The U.S.'s Shaun "Shaundeeb" Deeb is close behind, with eight WCOOP wins. Deeb's first WCOOP title came in 2008.
Several players have won six WCOOP titles, a plateau Dzivielevski leapt over on Saturday. Poland's Dzmitry “Colisea” Urbanovich and Finland's Jussi “calvin7v” Nevanlinna both joined this group by winning their sixth WCOOP title in the 2021 WCOOP series.
