Event #4 of the 2021 WSOP is the $500 The Reunion tournament. This No-Limit Hold’em event had three opening days scheduled from October 1 through October 3. Players who survived to the end of these three Day 1 flights returned for Day 2 on October 4 and eventually played down to a winner on October 5.

In many ways, The Reunion event was always going to be a test. This was the first major event of the first WSOP to take place during a pandemic, and there were several new changes made to the structure of the series.

The turnout for this event was much lower than for similar events in 2019. However, under the circumstances, the tourney drew an impressive field. Those circumstances were a mix of travel bans, vaccine mandates, and the pandemic's Delta and Mu variants.

This event is new to the 2021 WSOP schedule and aimed to start the series off with a bang, with a guaranteed prize pool of $5,000,000. Players who were eliminated on Day 1 were entitled to one rebuy per flight.
