All-time winningest player in the Super MILLION$ takes down Episode 49 championship for $313,907

Niklas Astedt could stop playing online poker completely, and still secure the status as one of the top online tournament players of all time. Astedt chooses to keep adding major championships and big cash prizes to his resume anyway.

The latest accomplishment in Astedt’s elite career played out Tuesday at GGPoker. The Swedish tournament crusher came away with the victory in Super MILLION$ Episode 49, winning $313,907.

The Super MILLION$ High Roller unfolds each week at GGPoker. The $10,300 buy-in tournament has emerged as perhaps the most prestigious weekly online tournament in the world, and Tuesday’s final table wrapped up the 49th run of the tournament.

In that 49-week span, one player has emerged as the undisputed king of the Super MILLION$ table. That player is Astedt, who became a two-time Super MILLION$ champion with Tuesday’s victory.

Astedt stands at No. 1 in the Super MILLION$ record books in winnings ($3,354,273), final tables (12), and cash finishes (21). He’s managed to make it to the payout ladder in 21 of his 46 appearances in the tournament.

Astedt outdueled another all-time great, Sam Greenwood (2nd - $248,746) in the heads-up duel for the title.

Second Super MILLION$ win in a six-week span for Astedt

Astedt strikes a consistent threat in any tournament he plays, and his 46 Super MILLION$ appearances have produced an unmatched set of results in that tournament.

The Swedish online legend broke through for his first Super MILLION$ win on April 13. That edition of the tournament (Episode 44 in Super MILLION$ canon) featured a higher buy-in, as part of the GG Spring Festival.

Astedt proved Tuesday that he can get the job done in the standard version of GGPoker’s weekly flagship tournament as well. He entered final table play third in the chip counts, but PokerShares installed Astedt as the betting favorite to take down the win.

Those that wagered on Astedt at the (+360) odds offered by PokerShares were rewarded accordingly.

Runner-up Greenwood posted his best Super MILLION$ results to date, with both the second-place finish and $248,746 payout marking new highs for the Canadian pro in the High Roller.

The remainder of the final table featured a couple of new names and a roster of familiar faces for the Super MILLION$. Finishing among the top five were Ramiro Petrone (3rd - $197,111), Austria-based ‘rushaakkandqq’ (4th - $$156,195), and Elio Fox (5th - $123,772).

Rounding out the final nine were Mikita Badziakouski (6th - $98,079), Mario Mosboeck (7th - $77,720), Bruno Volkman (8th - $61,587) and ‘judd trump’ (9th - $48,802).

The GGPoker Super MILLION$ begins each Sunday, with the final table playing to its conclusion every Tuesday. Virtual spectators can catch live-streamed final table action on the GGPoker Twitch channel.
