America's Cardroom announced today the release of a new documentary on their YouTube channel.
The film follows the journey of four ACR Team Pros and one Stormer as they battle their way through the Triton Super High Roller series in Vietnam.
Back in February, ACR awarded $100,000 prize packages to seven players. ACR Team Pros Jeff Boski, Jonathan 'apestyles' Van Fleet, Monica Zukowicz, Ana Marquez, and ACR Stormer Mark 'weazel' Rubbathan also earned packages to compete in Vietnam.
ACR CEO Phil Nagy explains the motivations behind his generosity in the documentary, saying, "So, the whole reason that I did this contest -- I actually have to thank Rob Yong -- he talked me into going to Cyprus. Then, everybody knows, I chose Ebony (Kenney) as my Team Pro to bring. Then after that was all done, I found out there was a stop here...and I said, 'Wow, let's run it twice'."
The poker dream experience
The ACR documentary tracks the experiences of each of the featured players as they take on poker's elite competitors. The behind-the-scenes footage gives audiences insight into the super high roller scene that goes beyond the gameplay.
The highlight of the film features ACR Stormer Mark Rubbathan making a run in the $20,000 NLH Mystery Bounty event. After expertly maneuvering a short stack through the bubble, Rubbathan re-built his stack and made it to the final table as chip leader.
Once there, it was the 'Weazel' show all the way as he eliminated nearly every single other player at the table, collecting a massive pile of bounties as he went. In the documentary, Rubbathan says, "It's completely surreal. I just keep getting good hands and going all in. I'm running obscenely well. Of all tournaments to run good in as well, what a time to sun-run."
Finally, Rubbathan found himself heads-up against Wiktor Malinowski for the title, with a big advantage in chips. Malinowski doubled up once, but the deficit was too much to overcome as Rubbathan won the next all-in confrontation. The win marked the largest cash, by far, in Rubbathan's career, a dream come true. After the bounty draws concluded, Rubbathan took home $636,000 for his efforts.
