This hand occurred during a high-stakes cash game on PokerGO’s wild and crazy show – No Gamble, No Future. The hand took place in Season 5, during Episode 7.
Cash and tournament professional Justin Young sat on a stack of $33,100 when he squared off with Hustler Casino Live regular Sashimi with a $27,800 stack when the hand commenced. The buy-in minimum was $10,000, and the blinds were $100/$100 with a $100 big blind ante.
In the video above, Young talks through the hand moment-to-moment, providing exclusive insight into the thought process of a seasoned pro. Young has been a regular on PokerGO’s High Stakes Poker and No Gamble, No Future streams and a professional player for over two decades.
Success in cash games and tournaments
Young has been a staple on the Las Vegas cash game scene for many years and occasionally dabbles in tournaments. He has more than $6,700,000 in career cashes and a shiny WPT championship trophy on the shelf from the 2016 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown.
“I've always gone back and forth between cash and MTTs,” shared Young. "I started in cash and love it. That is, until I ran deep in a tournament. There's no better drug on this planet than running deep in a poker tournament. There were a good seven years where I mainly played tournaments and was chasing that elusive feeling again.
"To be honest, chasing that feeling in tournaments eventually really wore on me as a person. You come up short way too often. Also, the traveling lifestyle didn't fit me, living out of a suitcase. I'm now focused more on cash, but I still play about 40 events a year.
"It's not like I'm completely gone from the tournament scene. But I'm a happier person playing cash and treating tournaments more like a freeroll. Well, not quite like a freeroll, but mentally, I just tell myself the money's gone. Let's just have fun, and hopefully we do well.”
Launching a podcast: Table1 Vegas
Young and business partner Art Parmann created the Table 1 website to attract players who wanted to play the highest-stakes NLH games in Vegas with the entertaining duo. They run $50/$100 games and up at the Aria, PokerGO studios, or any poker room with a Table 1.
Because their games were filled with star players, and hilarious and harrowing stories were often shared, the two gamblers launched the Table1 Podcast to a rabid following and much acclaim.
“The podcast was my partner Art Parmann's brainchild. We started our own private cash game at Aria, which was an avenue to bring awareness to it. I didn't expect to have as much fun with the podcast as I do.
"Once we started having great guests, people actually wanted to listen to the show. Who knew? We’ve done 47 episodes to date. We’ve had so many amazing guests, including Chino Reem, Freddy Deeb, Josh Arieh, Brad Owen, and many of poker’s most entertaining superstars.”
The most recent episode features Nik 'Airball' Arcot sharing his rise in the high-stakes cash games at Hustler Casino and fielding questions regarding the source of his bankroll, having the bulk of his personal net worth in a game, and the grudge match where he lost $1,000,000 to Matt Berkey.
