Maria Ho is one of the finest female poker players in the history of the game. She’s well and truly earned her place at the top table of poker pros thanks to her strategic prowess, resilience and continued success.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Ho moved to the United States at age four and was drawn to the game of poker at college. While studying for a communications major and a law minor, Ho built a sufficient bankroll to go professional as a poker player after graduation.
As early as 2005, Ho registered her first cash in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) - the first of dozens of in-the-money finishes at the WSOP.
In 2007, Ho was the last woman standing in the WSOP Main Event, eventually finishing in 38th place. She followed that up by achieving the same feat again at the WSOP Main Event Europe in the same year.
Her first World Poker Tour title arrived in March 2019 at the LA Poker Classic. Having final-tabled the same tournament in 2018, Ho went one better the second time around, taking down the entire event for a $276,690 payday. Today, Ho remains prominent in the WSOP Women’s All-Time Money List, alongside the likes of Vanessa Selbst and Annette Obrestad.
Away from the felt, Ho’s television work has further propelled her into the poker spotlight. She’s worked as an analyst and commentator for a string of poker broadcasts, underlining her depth of understanding of the game. A keen philanthropist, Ho also dedicates time away from the tables to giving back to charitable causes and using her platform for good.
