Faraz Jaka is a hugely successful poker professional who also works as a poker tutor, mentoring recreational, semi-professional and pro poker players as part of his Jaka Coaching program.
Jaka has been playing poker professionally for the best part of two decades, and has taken part in some of the biggest poker tournaments. He shot to notoriety as the ‘Homeless Millionaire’, with a lifestyle that enabled him to sell his home and live a nomadic life, flying to poker events across the world with just a suitcase, staying in hotels and making new friends on the way.
The other of his nicknames - ‘The Toilet’ - comes from a period of his career when he was known for playing any two suited cards, hoping to ‘make a flush’.
Having made multiple final tables in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and won events on the World Poker Tour, Faraz finally won his first WSOP event in the summer of 2023, landing the bracelet in a $1,500-entry Shootout event.
Jaka has notched several six-figure tournament wins in other poker events, including in 2014 at the WPT Emperors Palace Poker Classic in Johannesburg, South Africa. He also took home more than $770k in the 2009 Bellagio Cup V for a runner-up finish in a No Limit Hold’em Championship Event.
As a regular at WSOP final tables, Jaka is certainly someone worth considering as a mentor. His own Jaka Coaching community appears to be thriving, attracting everyone from first-timers and intermediate poker players to experienced pros looking to hone their edge. While coaching takes up a lot of his time, he can still be found playing live tournaments worldwide.
