This poker hands cheat sheet is the only one you need to see which poker hands are the strongest, which are the weakest, and what-beats-what in a game of poker.

Here's a quick guide to the order of poker hands - you can find more detail, including the odds of making each hand, at our poker hand rankings page.

We’ll start with the very strongest hands. Each hand in the list beats all the hands below it, and loses to those above it.

Straight flush

e.g.

Five cards of the same suit, in sequence.

These are ranked by the card at the top end of the straight, so is the lowest straight flush and is the highest straight flush (also known as a royal flush). It does not matter which suit is used.

Four of a kind

e.g.

Four cards of the same rank, plus any fifth card.

These are ranked by the cards making up the four of a kind, so a hand containing is the lowest four of a kind, and a hand containing is the highest. If more than one player has the same four of a kind, the fifth card - or kicker - may break a tie, e.g. beats .

Full house

e.g.

Three of a kind, plus a pair.

These are ranked by the cards making up the three of a kind, and then by the pair in the case of a tie. would be the worst full house, and the best.

Flush

e.g.

Five cards of the same suit.

Flushes are ranked by the highest card in the hand, then the next, and so on. A flush containing an ace will beat a flush where the highest card is a king, for example. If more than one flush has the same highest card, the next highest card is used to break the tie, and so on. is the worst flush, and is the best. Suits do not matter.

Straight

e.g.

Five cards in sequence.

Straights are ranked by the highest card in the sequence, so is the worst straight and is the best.

Three of a kind

e.g.

Three cards of the same rank, plus two unconnected cards.

Ranked by the highest three cards, then kickers, so would be the highest three of a kind, and the lowest.

Two pair

e.g.

Two pairs plus a kicker.

Ranked by the higher of the two pairs, then the lowest if more than one player has the same high pair, then the kicker to break any ties. is the highest two pair, is the lowest.

One pair

e.g.

Two cards of the same rank, plus three unconnected cards.

The higher the pair, the better, with kickers breaking any ties - for example, beats .

High card

e.g.

Five unconnected cards.

In the absence of a stronger hand, simply the highest card in your hand. Aces count as high, so any hand where the highest card is an ace will beat a hand where the highest card is lower than an ace. Kickers are used to break any ties.
