The Orleans casino has joined the list of Las Vegas venues that will run a major poker tournament series this fall, during the stretch of weeks when the World Series of Poker is expected to draw thousands of poker-playing visitors to Las Vegas. The Orleans announced the 2021 Fall Poker Series on Saturday. The 50-event series will run October 1 through November 5, 2021, and offer a guaranteed $2.5 million in prize money.
The 2021 Fall Poker Series' centerpiece will be a $750,000 no-limit hold'em event. The event features a $1,000 buy-in and three separate starting days. The first takes place on October 28.
Previous series at the venue have offered a wide variety of games, and this fall's series is no exception. The room will offer major H.O.R.S.E. and Omaha Eight-or-Better Championships as well. Both of these events offer a $50,000 guarantee.
Other major event guarantees on tap
Several larger guarantees are in place for major no-limit hold'em tourrneys besides the series' main event. The first of these is a "Thundering Threes" NLH event with a $333,333 guaranteed prize pool. This $400-entry tourney has three starting days as well, the first of which is Friday, October 8. In a theme-related bonus, any player hitting quad threes during the event will snare a progressive bonus payout.
A mystery bounty event spices up the middle section of the schedule with at least $400,000 in prize money. This tourney has a $500 buy-in and features two starting days, the first of which is Thursday, October 14. This is a bounty event with a twist: Any player who knocks out another player on Day 1 receives $50. When the field is combined for Day 2, however, the "mystery" element kicks in. Knocking out another player means a chance to draw a bounty prize of varying amounts, anywhere from $100 to $25,000.
Just days later, on Tuesday, October 19, another big NLH event begins. This is a $200,000 guaranteed event with two starting days and a very affordable $300 buy-in.
As a bonus, an unofficial 51st event rewards players who've made a final table earlier in the series. The Orleans' Final Table Freeroll awards another $15,000 to top event finishers. The freeroll begins on Wednesday, November 3.
Overall, the series continues the Orleans' tradition of offering a lower-priced alternative to many of the major series in Las Vegas this fall. The off-Strip, few-frills room bridges the gap between being a true "locals" poker room and a destination poker draw of its own. The Orleans' events generally draw good turnout, and this series mirrors the Orleans 2021 Summer Poker Series. That series ran from June 11 to July 22 and also offered $2.5 million in total guarantees
