Less than one month after being tied at the top of the WSOP Circuit series' career wins list, Florida's Maurice Hawkins has retaken sole possession of the career mark. Hawkins earned his 15th Circuit ring on Monday in Event #16 of the ongoing WSOP-C Cherokee stop, $2,200 NLH High Roller.
Hawkins topped a 92-entry field to earn $54,599. Another Floridian, Toby Boas, finished second, while Mississippi's William Stanford took third. The event's tough final table also included pros Irene Carey, Dylan Wilkerson, and Will Givens.
Hawkins' latest ring-event triumph pushes him ahead of Wisconsin's Josh Reichard, who notched his own 14th Circuit ring triumph in April in the main event of the WSOP-C Elgin (Illinois) stop. The top of the Circuit tour's all-time wins leaderboard has seen changes of late, as the player now in third, Arkansas's Daniel "Duma" Lowery, has also logged a recent win.
The victory marked a return to form for Hawkins, who endured a drought lasting more than three years before Monday. The big payday stretched Hawkins' all-time Circuit earnings mark to $2,252,265, which is more than $750,000 ahead of second-place Lowery in that category.
The win also marked Hawkins' 142nd Circuit cash, tied for sixth with California's Ian Steinman. The current Circuit career cashes mark is held by Roland Israelashvili, with 214.
