The launch of WSOP Online will bring together players from Nevada, New Jersey, and Michigan for the first time with 30 bracelet events during the 2024 World Series of Poker, Ceasars Digital confirmed in a press release on Saturday.
The three-state rollout — which coincides with a long-awaited update to the WSOP.com software in New Jersey and Nevada — will happen on May 28, the first day of the summer series.
“This platform upgrade is long overdue and is a big win for our players,” said Danielle Barille, Vice President of Online Poker at Caesars Digital, in a press release on Saturday morning. “The best is yet to come for WSOP Online tournaments, and we’re thrilled to bring Michigan players into the fold with Nevada and New Jersey, resulting in a better experience, more value, and the biggest prize pools of the year.”'
For players in Nevada and New Jersey, the current platform will continue service until May 27 at 4:55pm Pacific. All tournaments will have concluded and cash games will close at that time. The new software will become available once everything is stable and ready to go.
Speculation confirmed
The ever-reliable Kevin "Kevmath" Mathers was on the spot with confirmation of key details when the surprise announcement dropped early Saturday morning.
The move comes after months of speculation from Pokerfuse, where they have been reporting on the platform's development.
Michigan will join with the other states to offer WSOP Online nearly two years after gaining the ability to do so with membership in the Multi-State Internet Gambling Association (MSIGA), a compact that allows its members to share player pools and liquidity across state lines. PokerStars has already combined with its Michigan players with those in New Jersey in early 2023.
In addition to the increase in player pools, the software revamp is long overdue for players in New Jersey, where the site competes with several poker sites, and in Nevada where it operates as the only poker platform in the state.
Pennsylvania will remain on the outside looking in — for now — and players in the Keystone State will have their own schedule of seven bracelet events. Meanwhile, lawmakers in the state are working to join the compact.
Pre-register for WSOP Main Event freeroll ticket
As of today, players with existing accounts in New Jersey and Nevada need to pre-register for the new platform. Pre-registration will allow players to move their bankroll balances, reward points, and tournament tickets over from the previous client once it shuts down on May 27.
Players who do not pre-register may have to wait a few days after they sign up before their bankroll is transferred over. All pre-registered players will also get a ticket for a Main Event freeroll on June 20.
Players with existing accounts in Nevada can go here to pre-register. New Jersey players can complete the process with this link.
30 bracelets, new tourney formats
The software will flex its new features throughout the summer with 30 bracelet events in various new formats. Multi-flight tournaments, PLO, and different bounty formats are available on the new platform, and they'll all be shown off in bracelet events during the 2024 WSOP.
Also set for 2024 are five hybrid tournaments, with players competing online to make a live final table at the Horseshoe this summer. Buy-ins for the hybrid tournaments include two $3,200 High Rollers, a $5,300 High Roller Championship, and the flagship $10,000 WSOP Online Championship on July 11.
