The World Series of Poker International Circuit is returning to Canada this week for 18 rings and C$3.3 million in guarantees at Playground in Montreal. The series will kick off on Monday, March 24, and run through April 8 with PokerOrg on hand for coverage from bell to bell.
The 16-day series carries a lot of big guarantees, starting with a C$300 Colossus that offers 11 flights from Monday through Saturday and closing with a C$1,700 Main Event that guarantees C$1.5 million.
Record-breaking potential
A field of 1,660 entries turned out for the Main Event when the WSOP Circuit last stopped at Playground Poker, with Dustin Melanson capturing C$339,770 and the win in a heads-up deal with Sergei Gurin.
The Colossus, which will offer 11 flights from Monday through Saturday, will culminate on Sunday, March 30 with a Day 2 where surviving players fight for a share of the C$500,000 guarantee. A whopping 3,538 entries showed up in August for the same tournament and record-breaking fields are expected to destroy the guarantee once again.
Elsewhere on the schedule, two flights will run for the C$400 Monster Stack while the Colossus is settling its Day 2 on March 30, while a C$400 Seniors Event follows on Monday, March 31. The rest of the week will feature a variety of buy-ins and formats, including a C$400 Mystery Bounty and a C$250 Flip N Go, in the lead-up to the C$1,700 Main Event.
C$1.5 million Main Event
The Main Event will offer three flights from April 3–5, with an 11 am ET starting time for each. Surviving players will return for Day 2 on Sunday, April 6 to play for a C$1.5 million guarantee and a spot at the final table on Monday, April 7.
A C$300 Ladies Event on Friday, April 4 and a C$3,300 Mega Stack High Roller on Sunday, April 6 highlight the rest of the schedule, with two Milestone Satellites into the High Roller on Friday and Saturday. The series will wrap up on Tuesday, April 8 with a C$1,000 Progressive Knockout and a C$400 Mystery Bounty.
