After the over-the-top success of the December 2022 WPT World Championship, there was almost no doubt we'd see the event return this year. Today, the WPT confirmed it is returning to the Wynn in December and released the dates for the series.
The festival will mark the grand finale for Season XXI of the World Poker Tour.
The 2022 iteration, which was recently named the 2022 Event of the Year at the Global Poker Awards, drew 2,960 entries. The WPT's $15 million prize pool guarantee doubled to $29 million. Canada's Eliot Hudon emerged victorious and collected more than $4.1 million for his efforts.
WPT CEO Adam Pliska said, “The WPT World Championship festival was such an extraordinary milestone during our 20th season last year thanks to our partner Wynn Las Vegas and the enthusiastic support of the players.”
The entire festival will run from November 29 to December 23. The exact dates for each of the three championship tournaments are listed below.
- WPT Prime Championship: December 7-12
- WPT Ladies Championship: December 16-18
- WPT World Championship: December 12-18
Other notable tournament dates include the return of the popular Mystery Bounty (December 18-21) and the Seniors event (December 6-8). A full schedule of events will be finalized and announced in the coming months.
Ryan Beauregard, Executive Director of Poker Operations at Wynn Las Vegas, said, “Due to last year’s incredible turnout and the strong rapport we built with WPT, we have extended the festival dates and will create a tournament schedule to make 2023 even more memorable.”
