Is Alan Keating poker's next superstar vlogger?
He's no Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme, or Alexander 'Wolfgang' Seibt, but he's giving his fans exactly what they want: a glimpse behind-the-scenes of his high-roller existence. In a teaser released two weeks ago, called 'The truth about Alan Keating', he laid out what fans can expect, saying, "Come along with me on this journey on showcasing to the world who the real Alan Keating actually is."
And people are interested. After launching his YouTube channel in the immediate aftermath of his insane hero call on High Stakes Poker, Keating posted a video explaining his thought process throughout the $911,000 hand – and others from the episode. With the poker world still buzzing about the hand, the video spread like wildfire and has since racked up more than 230,000 views.
He's now put out his first vlog – 'I Took a Helicopter to a Secret Billionaire's Poker Game' – which you can watch in full above.
Keating peels back the curtain
The new video brings fans along for the ride as he makes the trip to Long Island to play in a billionaire's home game. Plus, there's a special guest appearance from friend-to-all billionaires Phil Hellmuth. After landing in New York City, Keating's plans to take a car from the airport to the game have to be scrapped due to time constraints. Unsurprisingly, he has a solution: a helicopter ride.
While the cameras don't capture any hands from the actual game, Keating and his production team provide a shot-for-shot (kind of, not really) reenactment of the key pots. The following day, Keating heads to the golf course with Hellmuth to play a few holes and conduct some business. With a potential project in the works, Keating makes his way back into New York City to meet up with Hollywood star Emile Hirsch and attend a screening of a new poker movie he's invested in.
If there's one thing he has working in his favor, it's that Keating's channel brings something new and unique to the somewhat saturated poker vlog space. The big draw isn't the poker gameplay; it's Keating himself and we're ready for the ride.
