Over 20 years ago, Chris Moneymaker made poker history by winning the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event. Nowadays, he's tangling with the best of the best at the very highest levels, including at the Triton Montenegro series back in May of this year.
With the time past, it's no secret to say that the ACR Poker production team picked a good moment to roll the cameras. Moneymaker, true to his form (and name), mounted a Herculean comeback to claim victory in the $25,000 GG Million$ for $903,000 – his third-biggest career cash. The result isn't the story here, however. Instead, it's the how, the why now, and the how the hell did he pull this off again? The behind-the-scenes look into the man who started the poker boom's renaissance era (and now sits on the PokerOrg Player Advisory Board), provides fans with a front row seat to yet another historic run, and, with high-level production, the episode really sings.
And he didn't end his run with that victory.
Moneymaker's story isn't the only thread followed in the new High Stakes Adventure episode as Brandon Hamlet, a 26-year-old professional player from Ryebrook, NY, provides the side plot. After winning a $110K Triton package on ACR Poker, Hamlet made the trip to Montenegro in search of his own Moneymaker-esque storyline. Having identified the $25,000 GG Million$ as the most value-heavy event in the series, Hamlet came with the intention of firing three bullets if necessary. The qualifier has big shoes to fill, surely, but if there's anyone that knows about trying to follow in the footsteps of another, it's a man named Hamlet.
This is the first episode, so keep an eye out here or on ACR Poker's YouTube channel to catch the rest of the story.
