Have you ever been so desperately short-stacked in a tournament that you started rooting around in the trash for chips you might have lost? Or worse, tried to enlist floor staff in the search?
No matter how down bad you are, you can find comfort in knowing there's always someone a little more desperate than you in the tournament. In this week's edition of The Showdown, there's a full week's worth of poker headlines from Sarah Herring as she breaks down the best and the worst that the poker world has to offer.
Check out the video up top to see everything you might have missed as Sarah does her weekly lightning round of the biggest stories of the week.
- Tournament director Justin Hammer posed an unusual question on social media this week, asking how far floor staff should be willing to go for a player who may or may not have left a tournament chip behind in a bag that's already found its way into the trash.
- Caitlin Comeskey dug deep into her infamous bag of impressions and wig collection as she channeled Daniel Negreanu, Kevin Martin, Chris Moneymaker, Doug Polk, Brad Owen and a host of others in a love letter to online poker ambassadors. Sarah requested a sequel, and serendipitously Comeskey has already delivered in part two.
- 'Jungleman' Dan Cates released an '80s-inspired training montage video, which left Sarah reeling and confused.
- Kevin Martin's seemingly endless quest to run himself out a royal flush was nearing 100 days and 5,000 runouts when he finally struck paydirt. His reaction to the
hitting the river was... something else.
- There are many ways to make a living in poker, as Nick Marchington was all too happy to contribute to as he posted a bounty hunt to retrieve his passport from the airport in Sacramento.
- And finally, because Doug Polk is always game for a good story, he's brought on two new investors - the ever-entertaining Ethan 'Rampage' Yau and Nik 'Airball' Arcot.
