ā€˜The work is its own rewardā€™ said Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes mystery novels. And while we donā€™t disagree, weā€™re pretty sure Mr Doyle was never nominated for a Global Poker Award, so weā€™re taking that quote with a pinch of salt.

You see, we at PokerOrg love our work bringing you the fastest, funniest and foremost news from across the poker world. But thatā€™s not to say we wouldnā€™t also enjoy a moment in the spotlight once a year, clutching a trophy and thanking our moms and dads, pets, life coaches and spiritual gurus.

Thatā€™s why weā€™re excited to congratulate every member of the PokerOrg family to have been nominated for a GPI Global Poker Award this year.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony this Saturday, February 22 at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, to be broadcast live on PokerGO.

Here are the hardworking PokerOrg homies weā€™ll be rooting for.

The PokerOrg nominees areā€¦

Caitlin Comeskey

Caitlinā€™s knack for nailing the latest trend, story or scandal in the poker world makes her videos a must-watch, and have seen her nominated for Best X Personality, Best Short-Form Content Creator, Best Short-Form Video and Most Entertaining Player.

And we couldnā€™t big up Caitlin without tipping the hat to her hardworking European colleague, Elyanna.

Nikki Limo

Another nominee for Best Short-Form Content Creator and Best Short-Form Video, Nikki not only knows exactly how to make us laugh, but also introduced us to the strategic implications of a flop containing "two backnuts and a wheelbarrow shark."

Abby Merk

Nominated in two categories - Rising Star in Content Creation and Best Short-Form Video - Abbyā€™s work has always made us look good (even when she makes us look bad).

Lex Veldhuis

Pro player Lex has always shown how fun poker can be, whether through his appearances in live shows such as the PokerStars Big Game, or on his wildly successful poker streams on Twitch, where he has over 300K subscribers and a nomination for Best Streamer. As a member of the PokerOrg Player Advisory Board, Lex helps us to understand the real-world experiences of players around the globe.

Jeremy Ausmus

Another member of our Player Advisory Board, Jeremy has already locked up his Global Poker Award with an incredible victory in one of the toughest categories there is: PGT Player of the Year.

Seth Moeller

Our guy Sethy is nominated in the Most Entertaining Player category, and itā€™s well deserved. Hereā€™s a quick comp that takes in everything from playing pocket aces (everyone folds) to check-raising with 7-2 offsuit and winningā€¦ kind of.

Corey Eyring

Nominated for Best Vlogger, Corey brings poker to life in ways that really resonate with players - sometimes a little too much. His videos showcase the good, the bad and the ugly of a poker lifestyle, one card at a time, but always make us smile.

Paul Oresteen

Poker stories can be fun, fascinating, weird, or downright silly. They can also be revealing, meaningful, and tell us something new about ourselves and the world around us. Paulā€™s knack for finding and exploring the human dimension in any poker story has landed him a much-deserved nomination in the Best Written Content category for this up-close-and-personal piece about poker pro Ari Engel, and when difficult personal circumstances overshadow the thrill of a tournament victory.

Sarah Herring

Our Head of Instant Media, also known as Aunty Chardonnay, already has a Global Poker Award for the mantelpiece as 2018ā€™s Poker Journalist of the Year. Now sheā€™s back for more with another nomination in the same category. As the face of PokerOrgā€™s The Showdown, and much more besides, Sarah puts in the work needed to take this one down. Weā€™d call this one a slam dunk if it wasnā€™t forā€¦

Brad Willis

Our Editor-in-Chief is also in the running for Best Journalist, ensuring PokerOrg takes up 50% of the field in this category. If thereā€™s anything Brad doesnā€™t know about the game of poker - or the game-within-a-game of showcasing poker in the best way possible - you can be sure itā€™s not worth knowing to begin with. One thingā€™s for sure: heā€™d be a deserving winner and a gracious runner-upā€¦ so long as Sarah gets the win.

Just kidding; we know that everyone nominated in this yearā€™s awards deserves to be there and is working to make this game even greater, just like we are.

Find out who wins what this Saturday, February 22, live on PokerGO.
