On Thursday afternoon, Shannon Shorr put on another masterclass as he rode the variance train to a second PokerGO Tour (PGT) Last Chance victory. After snatching a win in Event #2, Shorr came back for more in Event #6. The $10,000 buy-in attracted a field of 116 entries to generate a prize pool of $1,160,000 with 17 places paid and $290,000 for the eventual winner.

Shorr started the final table proceedings with a sizable chip lead after winning a key pot late in the evening on Day 1. Last year's WSOP Main Event fifth-place finisher Boris Angelov wasn't far off in second place after securing his final cash to qualify for the PGT $1M Championship. Stephen Chidwick, Ren Lin, and Sean Winter – each a familiar face in the PokerGO Studio – came into the final table smack dab in the middle of the pack while Jeremy Becker and Dylan Linde rounded out the bottom of the chip counts.

Linde and Becker bounced early, Chidwick follows

With a little more than three big blinds remaining, Linde committed the majority of his stack with , only to see Winter call next to act. On the flop, Linde sent the last of his chips into the middle and Winter made a quick call before turning over his . As two other players had folded a preflop, Linde was drawing dead to a misdeal against Winter's superior pocket pair and the turn and river confirmed his elimination in seventh place

Jeremy Becker PGT Last Chance Jeremy Becker needed a fifth-place finish, or better, to earn himself a Dream Pass for the PGT Championship Dream Seat Invitational.

Now on the clear short stack, it was Becker's turn to take a shot at chipping up and he opted to make a stand when dealt in the UTG position. After moving the majority of his chips across the betting line, Becker called it off when Angelov jammed all-in over the top with . With his holding dominated, Becker needed serious help from the runout but the board provided no such assistance and his run ended in a sixth-place finish.

After chipping down to his last two big blinds, Chidwick laid it all on the line with a pocket pair and found himself in good shape to triple up against the ace-high holdings of Angelov and Lin.

Unfortunately for the Brit, the improved both of his opponents to a superior pair and his day ended with a fifth-place finish

Winter comes and goes, Lin out in third

With Chidwick out of the way, Winter took on the short stack duties and struggled to pick up quality holdings to chip up with. After whittling down to his final big blind, Winter was forced all-in from the big blind with . The action folded around to Lin in the small blind who made the call with to put Winter at risk. On the flop, Winter's hopes at a spin-up drew slim and the turn left him drawing dead.

Sean Winter PGT Last Chance Sean Winter had a shot to spin his last big blind, but Ren Lin slammed the door shut on the attempted comeback.

The start of three-handed play saw Lin hold a commanding chip lead over his two competitors, but a key pot saw him send the chip lead to Shorr. In a blind versus blind, all-in confrontation, Shorr made a gutsy call with when facing a jam from Lin. The gamble paid off as Shorr got his chips in good against Lin's and the runout secured him the chip lead.

Shortly afterward, the same pattern repeated itself when Lin moved all-in from the small blind with and Shorr called it off from the big blind with . This time, however, Shorr had the covering stack and, while the flop added outs to his opponent's holding, the turn and river bricked out to bring an end to Lin's run

Shorr closes Last Chance series with second win

The heads-up stage of play saw Shorr start with more than a 2-to-1 chip lead over Angelov and it didn't take long for the two players to clash in a tournament-deciding pot. After whittling down Angelov's stack even further, Shorr took the aggressive route when he moved all-in from the button with . Angelov looked down at in the big blind and quickly called to give himself a shot at a full double-up.

Boris Angelov PGT Last Chance Boris Angelov got the last of his chips in good, but couldn't hold across the runout.

On the flop, however, Shorr shot into the lead with a superior pair and Angelov was drawing at two immediate outs to stay in the fight. The turn improved Shorr to two pair, but changed nothing for Angelov and the river confirmed his elimination in second place.
