The second day of the tenth month of the year now holds a special place in our community. October 2nd is Doyle Brunson Day for the poker world, now and forever. Today, we celebrate the life of the man who paved the way for all of us, who set the standard.
Brunson's passing this past May sent shock waves through the poker community. In July, during the World Series of Poker, a Celebration of Life took place at the Jubilee Theater at the Horseshoe. To honor the man, and in connection with the hand he made famous, the community chose to designate October 2nd as Doyle Brunson Day.
In commemoration of the event, PokerGO released video footage of the Celebration of Life. The footage includes a number of other legends of the game, and friends of Brunson's, taking to the stage to share words of remembrance and celebration.
Additionally, card rooms and online providers around the world offered up promotions and events as part of the remembrance. Check out the Twitter thread below to see how the community came together to celebrate Brunson's legacy!
The Lodge Card Club in Austin, Texas offered players who won a hand (trips or better) with ten-deuce the chance to win $10,200. JACK Casino in Cleveland ran a $200 charity tournament to benefit the Cleveland Food Bank.
PokerStars USA ran the Ten Deuce Day Freeroll, giving players a free shot at the $10,200 prize pool.
