Online poker operator ACR Poker has announced a revamp of its regular tournament schedule, starting tomorrow, February 21.
The new schedule promises more than double the number of tournaments, with 129% more events taking place across a packed timetable. The new events will largely have a focus on low to mid-stakes tourneys.
Meanwhile, the overall guaranteed prize pools for any given week have been increased to $9.2 million.
Shorter late reg, faster tournaments and rolled-back blinds
Time is a precious commodity for online poker players, and every operator has made some concession in recent years to help attract and keep players without the time or attention necessary to commit to grinding long tournaments.
As ACR Poker puts it, when announcing the new schedule, ‘It’s time to play smarter, not longer.’
To this end, another headline feature of ACR Poker’s new offering is faster tournaments, with the schedule including a plethora of turbo and hyper-turbo tourneys for players who are happy to trade some increased variance for quicker sessions.
The speedier path to the big money, in the case of some larger events, will be countered to some degree by a rollback of blinds when the final table is reached. Given the fast speed of many of the tourneys on the schedule, this should hopefully provide a little extra play when the bulk of the prize money is on the line.
There’s also a reduction in the time allowed for late registration, with as little as 20 minutes late reg in some cases.
Bonus prizes in two weekly Sunday tourneys
The regular Jackpot Warmup tournaments, held each Sunday, will offer a bonus reward for those who make the final table.
Those reaching the finale of the Major $109 version of the tourney - either the regular or PKO editions - will bank $2K, and $20K if they win both. The Minor $55 version will award payouts of $1K for reaching the final table, and $10K for winning both regular and PKO editions.
