Art Peacock had the birthday luck working on the way to his first victory on the World Series of Poker Circuit in the $1,700 Main Event at the most recent stop in Pompano Beach, Florida

The Pompano stop brought out 914 entries from Florida and all over the country to generate a prize pool of $1,384,710, which would be divided up between the 101 players that came into Day 2. At the end of Day 2, it would be just seven players bagging up to return to decide a winner on Monday.

Peacock beat veteran Darryll Fish heads-up to win $230, 794 after Raminder Singh bowed out in third place.

A very happy birthday

It turned out to be an extra joyous birthday for the now 66-year-old Peacock, who now has something else to celebrate with his family after he conquered his first WSOPC ring. The win here today carried a bonus because it was against a lot of players that Peacock plays with quite a bit and respects, a common sight on the Circuit.

“I know a lot of these guys, played with them for years,” he told us after the win. “I loved being heads up with Darryll (Fish). He’s such a gentleman, very well-liked by the community.”

“Down here at Harrah’s at Pompano, the floor staff is great. Everyone that worked the tournament has been great,” he continued. “I’ve definitely done well here. I won the state championship here last year. It’s fun to be back here again.”

Wire-to-wire for the win

Peacock held the chip lead when 15 players remained and never once relinquished it the final two days of play.

“This isn’t my biggest score but for me this is my biggest accomplishment. Very tough field with a lot of pros and a lot of regulars on the circuit. I haven’t been a regular on that circuit as much, but I can tell you now that I’m going to be. I really enjoyed it so much. It’s my favorite win.”

The champ is coming off a huge 2024 where he won two titles on the Moneymaker Tour, including the big one in Las Vegas in July for $358K.

“I’m going to head up the Cherokee,” Peacock said as far as his next plans. With winning the seat to the 2025 Tournament of Champions as well, Peacock looks to be quite busy over the next year with poker tournaments.

Stay tuned — we will join Peacock at Cherokee while another team heads to the Bay Area for double-barreled WSOP Circuit action starting later in the week.
