The Moneymaker Tour returns this week to Daytona Beach Racing & Card Club in Florida for the third time since the tour's inception.
Starting August 7, the Moneymaker Tour and its legion of players will descend on Daytona Beach, Florida, for nearly two weeks of action-packed fun at the poker tables. The proceedings kick off with the $150,000 GTD Moneymaker NLH Mystery Bounty, which offers players eight starting flights to choose from.
The centerpiece of the schedule is, of course, the $300,000 GTD Moneymaker Main Event. The $1,500 buy-in event gets underway on August 15 with the first of three starting flights. Other highlights on the slate of events include the Ladies NLH, the Older Than Moneymaker NLH, and the $10,000 GTD Mixed PLO (PLO/PLO8/Big O).
You can find the complete schedule of events on the newly revamped Moneymaker Tour website.
Riding the MGM Grand momentum
Over the summer, the Moneymaker Tour followed the rest of the poker world to Las Vegas — the city where its founder, Chris Moneymaker, made his name in the poker world more than twenty years ago. MGM Grand served as the host for the tour's truncated stop in Sin City and the $1,000,000 GTD Main Event drew in quite a crowd.
1,433 hopefuls ponied up the $1,700 buy-in to create a prize pool of $2,163,380. The field size and resulting prize pool broke records for both the MGM Grand Las Vegas and the Moneymaker Tour.
Art Peacock, a South Florida resident and Palm Beach Kennel Club regular, won the event outright for a $358,700 payday, a custom-signed Moneymaker Tour painting, and the coveted Moneymaker trophy.
While the Main Event in Daytona won't be quite as large as it was at MGM Grand Las Vegas, there's still a lot to play for — pride and prestige included.
