Something happened when the poker calendar turned over to March. At the start of the month, Maurice Hawkins tied Ari Engel's record with his 18th career World Series of Poker Circuit ring. That shared space lasted all of five days before Engel won number 19 to retake the outright lead.

But if Dan Lowery has anything to say about it, neither Engel nor Hawkins might be the first person ever to hit 20 WSOPC victories.

Lowery put on a masterclass in Tulsa last week, securing his 17th career WSOP Circuit ring in a Seniors event with a field of 448. That was just a few days after Lowery narrowly missed out on another victory with a third-place finish earlier in the festival at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

And if there was still somehow any doubt as to who the 50+ king of Tulsa was, Lowery ended that conversation late Sunday night by going back-to-back with a second Seniors title - this time outlasting 399 entries to add his 18th career WSOPC ring.

Engel welcomes another challenger in

Sunday's win puts Lowery in a tie with Hawkins and one behind Engel for the all-time lead, as all three players eye the possibility of becoming the first 20-time WSOP Circuit ring winner.

ā€œEvery win means the world,ā€ Lowery told us after the win. ā€œI love the competition and always love to win no matter what the size of the field.ā€

PokerOrg was live on the scene and spoke with Lowery after his latest win.

As was the case when Hawkins made his move earlier this month, Engel was quick to dole out congratulations to Lowery.

Lowery now turns his eye to the WSOP, where he still hasn't won his first bracelet. ā€œI plan to be there five of the seven weeks. A lot of these bracelets ā€” even though theyā€™re diluted ā€” Iā€™d still like to have one. Iā€™ve navigated big fields on the Circuit and at the WSOP, so I feel like Iā€™m on the cusp. I feel like Iā€™m one of the better ones to navigate a 3,000-player field. I like my chances on that, Iā€™ve never lost focus when Iā€™m in those fields.ā€
