The latest episode of Mike Matusow's The Mouthpiece saw the four-time WSOP bracelet winner preview the upcoming documentary about his life in poker, aptly titled Matusow, and talk with guests Shaun Deeb and Josh Arieh, two of the founding members of Team Lucky.
The three WSOP-regulars discussed summers in Las Vegas of the past, the present, and the future, swapping stories and needles with one another. Matusow also offered up five 1% freerolls of his action in $10,000 events at the WSOP this summer to listeners that called in. Each caller had to answer a trivia question that Matusow, Deeb, and Arieh cooked up on the spot to win the freeroll and they didn't hold back with the difficulty of the questions.
Matusow, a Frank Zarrillo picture, tells the story of Matusow's poker career. From the highs to the lows, the film shines a light on one of the poker boom's most-beloved characters. On Sunday, May 26, the film will premiere at Southpoint Casino in Las Vegas, starting at 5:00pm local time.
Talking on his podcast on Friday, Matusow said, "We've sold out the entire theatre, so it's going to be a big thing... I'm a little nervous because it's a lot of work... three years of work and I'm interested to see what people think."
PokerOrg recently spoke with Zarrillo about the film and he told us, "It's a mix of the poker world for both the diehard fan and for the casual viewer. Matusow gets a lot of hate on Twitter, which I'm sure you're aware of, and my point with that is that I think he's misunderstood. You'll see the more human side of him."
Keep an eye out for PokerOrg's coverage of the film's premiere, with the documentary set for general release on a streaming platform later this year.
