Eric Blair won his second tournament of the PokerGO Cup after a heads-up battle with Keith Lehr in Event #6 to move within striking distance of Joey Weissman at the top of the series leaderboard.
The now two-time winner on the PokerGO Tour outlasted a field of 87 entrants and won $352,350 for his second victory in three tournaments. His previous win was against Weissman on Saturday in Event #4 for $254,800
The champ returned among the short stacks at a final table that included Nick Schulman, Matthew McEwan, Michael Berk, and Christian Roberts. Roberts led a final table of six players who had already cashed in a previous PokerGO Cup tournament.
Schulman bows out early
The chip leader opened the day with a large lead, thanks in part to four knockouts after the tournament hit the money on Day 1. Roberts was followed by Schulman in second and a the rest of the pack bunched up behind third-place Berk.
The chip politics changed quickly when Lehr doubled through Schulman and Blair doubled through Roberts. The exchange left Roberts with a marginal chip lead over the two doublers, while Schulman was the new short stack.
Schulman saved himself — temporarily — with pocket tens and a double through Roberts, but less than an hour later he was the first player out when his Big Slick couldn't beat Berk's pocket fours.
McEwan was the new short stack and Roberts was worse for wear with five players left and Blair sitting on top of a freshly shaken leaderboard. A few orbits later, McEwan and Roberts were both out — the former busted by Berk in fifth and the latter by Lehr in fourth.
Blair makes his move
The final three players were set in Level 19 with blinds at 50K/100K/100K and Blair still held the lead with 4 million, while Berk had 3.5 million and Lehr had 3.3 million.
Blair picked up a few chips and the level expired before a pivotal hand set him up for the victory.
The champ raised to 275K on the button and Berk shoved 3.1 million from the next seat. Blair called with and Berk turned over
.
The board ran out and the queens held to set up a final two confrontation between Lehr and Blair, who held a considerable chip advantage.
It was a matter of moments before Lehr shoved with and after a flop of
. Blair called with
and held on to secure his second victory of the series.
