After a little under eight hours, the field of 18 was reduced to the final six here at the WPT bestbet Scramble in Jacksonville, Florida.

Leading the field is a familiar name: Eric Afriat. Afriat is one of just seven players who have won three WPT titles and is looking to join Darren Elias and become the second to etch his name on the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup for the fourth time.

Afriat dominated from the start and finished with 6,570,000 after scoring the final elimination of T.K. Miles. The final six players have now gone home with everybody guaranteed at least $71,000. Of course, they’ll all be eyeing the $347,850 top prize, which includes a ticket to the WPT Championship Main Event in Las Vegas.

Funaro in the hunt

Behind Afriat is Day 2 chip leader and rising poker star Nick Funaro. The younger brother of “Franky Funk” is looking for his second major title after winning the kickoff event of the Borgata Winter Poker Open for over $420,000. Funaro bagged 3,680,000 and is sitting very pretty heading into the televised final table.

The younger Funaro is making a name for himself. The younger Funaro is making a name for himself.

It was also another big day for Joe Jordan. After finishing fourth in the Day 1B flight and going into Day 2 second in chips, he’ll head into the official final table in third place with 2,795,000.

Chile’s Nick Yunis (2,690,000), Yunkyu Song (1,335,000), and Michael Jagroo (1,035,000) round out the final table places.

Notable Day 3 bustouts include Francis Anderson (8th, $42,500), Bobby Kennedy (11th, $25,500), Jacksonville local Thad McNulty (13th, $20,500), Tony Dunst (16th, $16,800), and Joe McKeehen (17th, $16,800).

Action will begin at 2 pm ET with 60 minutes remaining in Level 24, with the blinds at 25,000/50,000 with a 50,000 big blind ante. After that, they will continue playing 60-minute levels until it reaches heads-up play, when levels will be reduced to 30 minutes.
