PokerStars has signed a deal with the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers to become an official partnering sponsor of the venerable NHL franchise. As part of the deal, PokerStars will bring its brand presence to Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Arena, where the Flyers play their NHL home games.

The sponsorship pact will also bring Flyers game tickets and signed memorabilia into PokerStars offerings. PokerStars will team with the Flyers to offer PokerStars players the chance to win Flyers tickets and signed collectibles through special poker tournaments and monthly sweepstakes on PokerStars Casino.

PokerStars will also launch TV spots featuring the Flyers for airing in local media markets

PokerStars expands pro sports footprint

The deal continues PokerStars' marketing plans to partner with professional sports franchises and teams not only in North America but worldwide. It's the third such pact that Stars has reached involving an NHL franchise. PokerStars has a similar deal in place with the Detroit Red Wings, and another with Ontario-based Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which owns both the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and the NBA's Toronto Raptors.

Like the Flyers, the Red Wings and Maple Leafs are also 'Original Six' NHL franchises offering wide and well-entrenched fan bases, adding value to the sponsorship deal.

According to Rob Battista, PokerStars North America's Senior Director of Commercial, “We are thrilled to partner with such a beloved hockey team. Hockey fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and we can’t wait to collaborate with the team to bring exciting tournaments and rewards to our communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.”
