Online poker players logging on to BetMGM in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey from today can expect more players, more tables, larger tournament fields and bigger prize pools following the merge of the three states into one shared platform.
The switch was flicked at 9am ET today, and is expected to have a significant effect, given that Pennsylvania — the latest state to be added — is the largest to join the platform to date.
“This expanded player pool will allow us to deliver more games and bigger tournaments to our players,” said the company’s VP of Gaming, Angus Nisbet, and the brand has announced various promotional activities to celebrate the launch. These include a daily free spin of a prize wheel with tournament tickets worth up to $500 to be won.
Million-dollar series to run May 8-11
The BetMGM May Millions will feature a $1M series guarantee when it kicks off on May 8, the largest in the brand’s history so far. Highlights will include a $1K Championship, with $400K GTD, as well as a $2.5K Super High Roller. Overall, 18 events will run across the four days, including a freeroll.
More immediately, a freeroll with $35K in prizes will run from tonight, April 28, at 7:05pm ET. Prizes will include a $5K package to play the BetMGM Poker Championship — see below.
ARIA to host BetMGM Poker Championship
A live event running at ARIA Las Vegas (pictured above) from June 30 to July 4, the $3,500 BetMGM Poker Championship will be attended by at least 100 players from across New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ontario thanks to qualifying tournaments running across the regions.
Special satellites are running at 9:15pm each Thursday and Sunday until June 22, with the ultimate prizes comprising entry to the BetMGM Poker Championship, a five-night stay at ARIA, travel credit and more.
“Adding a large market like Pennsylvania is a huge milestone in continued expansion and provides the opportunity to compete against more players and for larger prize pools,” said BetMGM ambassador Darren Elias upon the announcement. “I used to call Pennsylvania home, and it played an important part in my early poker career. I can't wait to log in and get in the mix.”
