The Wynn Las Vegas poker room rang in the new year with an announcement regarding its $2/$5 No-Limit Hold'em games. From January 1, all $2/$5 games at the property made the switch to an 8-handed format, leaving just the $1/$3 games as 9-handed. All games above $2/$5 are already played 8-handed at the Wynn.

The move has already garnered a number of positive responses from notable players in the community.

Joey Ingram replied to the post on Twitter/X, writing, "I like this change – more short-handed is better," while poker professionals Eric Baldwin and Mike Holtz reposted the announcement with their own endorsements.

Baldwin said, "The best keeps getting better," while Holtz shared a similar sentiment, saying the Wynn is the "best place to play in America."

Next move after eliminating straddles

This is the next player-centric move the Wynn Las Vegas has made after eliminating straddles in $5/$10 and $10/$20 games in August this year.

Writing for PokerOrg, Lee Jones hailed this as "excellent news" and added, "It's no surprise that this change is first appearing at the Wynn, which is legendary for its forward-thinking poker management. I mean, it's not hard to pick the Wynn as your Las Vegas poker room – they've been getting stuff right from the jump. This is just another data point that they're constantly working to do what's best for their players."

For the time being, $1/$3 cash games will continue to seat players 9-handed, but, with the positive responses to the $2/$5 change mounting, the Wynn Las Vegas poker room could soon be an 8-handed players' paradise.

Hopefully, more casinos will follow the lead set by Wynn Las Vegas.
