The UK’s Benny Glaser knows how to win a PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) event. He entered this year’s global .COM series tied with Calvin Anderson for the most SCOOP titles, with 10, but thanks to another victory over the weekend he now sits atop the all-time SCOOP rankings with 11.
As Glaser told PokerOrg earlier this month, his preparation for this year’s SCOOP was far from ideal. Fresh from playing at EPT Monte-Carlo, where he won a PLO side event, Glaser flew directly to Montreal in order to hit the online tables from a standing start.
Despite the imperfect prep, the player known as ‘RunGodlike’ has now made his mark on the 2024 SCOOP - as many expected him to.
NLHE Turbo title joins the list
Glaser is famous for playing as many SCOOP events as he can - in any format, variant and stake level - and it was the Low buy-in version of event #75, No-Limit Hold’em Turbo, that he took down on Saturday.
His $55 buy-in joined those of 1,984 other runners (plus 694 re-entries) to create a prize pool just one entry shy of $134k. The Brit ended up facing off against Brazil’s ‘tenentelima’ for the record-breaking win and the lion’s share of the prize money, eventually taking down both for a win worth $19,590 and cementing his place as the SCOOP end-boss.
Super ‘COOPer
Glaser’s 11th SCOOP win was only his second in the NLHE game which dominates so many online schedules and draws such big fields, having previously picked up titles in other variants including HORSE, 8-Game Mix and Stud, among others (see table below).
Already a final tablist in five mixed-game live tourneys in 2024, Glaser also has an astonishing 15 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) titles to his name, making him the most successful ‘COOP player of all time.
His recent win moves him up to seventh in the 2024 SCOOP leaderboards, and after claiming no less than three events last year we wouldn’t rule out another win before the series ends on May 29.
