A last-minute bonus Day 1 has been added to the schedules for ACR Poker’s flagship duel Venom tournaments.
The two tournaments — one a no-limit hold’em (NLH) event with $10M guaranteed, and the other a pot-limit Omaha (PLO) tourney with $2M guaranteed — will both offer an additional chance to qualify for Day 2 with an extra starting flight taking place on Saturday, April 26.
Both bonus flights kick off at 1:05pm ET.
Overlay alert?
With buy-ins for both events set at $2.5K plus a $150 fee, the ambitious guarantees require 4,000 players for the NLH event to cover, and 800 for the PLO.
With four of the originally planned five NLH starting flights in the books, entries at time of writing have reached 2,268, placing the event significantly short of the magic number of 4,000.
Should either event fail to meet its stated guarantee, players will benefit from potentially significant additional value; for every 400 players short of the target, an additional $1M will be up for grabs, with ACR Poker footing the bill. Somewhat ironically, the promise of this potential value may incentivize many more players to register, and in doing so reducing the overlay they're hoping to enjoy.
A final Day 1 for each event is still planned for this coming Sunday, traditionally the busiest day of the week for online poker, which — along with the additional Day 1 added for Saturday — ACR Poker will be hoping fill up nicely.
For the PLO event, 545 entries have been recorded so far, leaving it far closer to covering its guarantee with two Day 1s, including the added bonus flight on Saturday, still to play.
Million-dollar prize expected in the NLH event
Estimated first-place prize money for these tournaments is expected to be in the region of $1M for the NLH, and $400K for the PLO. Day 2s for both events will take place on Monday, April 28, when the PLO is expected to conclude.
Surviving players in the NLH event will return for Day 3 on Tuesday, with the final table taking place on Wednesday from 4:05pm ET.
In addition to the extra Day 1, ACR Poker is still running numerous satellites for the events, including All-in or Fold tournaments and direct-entry satellites from just $33, while various other paths to qualification start at the freeroll level.
