Wynn Las Vegas continues to stamp itself as one of the go-to destinations on Sin City's summer poker scene, with the 2024 edition of the Wynn Summer Classic set to establish some new records beginning in just one month.
Beginning on May 22 and running all the way to its finish on July 18, this year's Wynn Summer Classic will be the biggest and best edition yet. Featuring 98 official trophy events and more than eight straight weeks of tourney action, the festival will offer more than $37 million in guaranteed prize money, and likely significantly more than that when the final payouts are tallied. Last year's Summer Classic officially offered $28 million in guaranteed prize money, but paid out over $84 million when the series finally wrapped.
The crown jewel of this year's Summer Classic will be the $10M guaranteed Wynn Summer Championship, nestled in the heart of the series. The Summer Championship is a $10,400 buy-in, placing it among the top ties of "main" events anywhere on the globe. The event features three separate starting days beginning on June 28, with the final table -- the official Day 4 of the tourney -- to be held on July 3.
WPT Alpha 8 Trifecta on slate
Another prominent feature of the 2024 Wynn Summer Classic is the inclusion of a new wrinkle - the WPT Alpha 8 Trifecta. Scheduled to start on three consecutive Wednesdays beginning June 26, the WPT Alpha 8 Trifecta consists of three separate high-roller NLH tourneys, each with a $25,000 buy-in. Each tourney is a two-day affair, scheduled to take advantage of the high-roller traffic present in Vegas in late June and early July, when most of the summer Sin City series are at their peak.
Six other multi-day no-limit hold'em tournaments are scattered throughout the series, each having a guarantee of at least $2 million. The series-within-a-series includes traditional hold'em formats, along with mystery-bounty and progressive-knockout (PKO) events. Five of the six of these multi-day, multi-millions tourneys are also supported by multiple milestone satellites, offering an affordable channel for a chance at a big payday.
The series is heavy on the NLH side, with just a handful of Omaha events of various types added to the mix. The slate does not include any mixed or stud games. With its reputation for well-run events, the Wynn will be one of the most popular poker destinations in Las Vegas this summer.
