The PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is building to a big money climax this weekend, as three Main Events kick off simultaneously on Sunday at 12:30pm ET.

As per series tradition, where each event comes with a Low, Medium and High buy-in option, the Main Event will run in three varieties, each with a big money guarantee.

  • The Low Main Event has a buy-in of $109, with $2,500,000 GTD
  • The Medium Main Event has a buy-in of $1,050, with $3,500,000 GTD
  • The High Main Event has a buy-in of $10,300, with $5,000,000 GTD

Each will be played as a no-limit hold’em event, with the winner of the High version claiming the honor of World Champion of NLHE.

More champions to be crowned

The NLHE World Champion is not the only title to be awarded over the next few days. Pot-limit Omaha (PLO) players also see their Main Events take place on Sunday, with each of three Mains starting at 3.05pm ET. These will feature identical buy-ins to their NLHE counterparts, with guarantees of $200K (Low), $500K (Medium) and $800K (High).

A Super High Roller (SHR) is on the schedule for Monday, with a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool to be won and a cost of $25K per entry. As one might expect, the SHR is not offered in Medium or Low variants. The series will draw to a close on Wednesday, October 2.

‘FAL1st’ heads the leaderboard approaching the finish

One of two players to have collected four WCOOP wins during the series (the other being Parker ‘Tonkaaaa’ Talbot), ‘FAL1st’ currently heads the Player of the Series leaderboard with a healthy lead over Blaz ‘Scarmak3r’ Zerjav in 2nd, Yuri ‘theNERDguy’ Dzivielevski in third and Renan ‘Internett93o’ Bruschi in fourth.

Matthew Berglund Yuri Dzivielevski of Brazil.

The success of the latter two players has played a part in helping Brazil to the top of the countries leaderboard, with over 60 tournament wins going to those playing from Brazil. The next closest country is the UK, which at time of writing has 25 wins.

While only Talbot and ‘FAL1st’ have scored four wins during this year’s WCOOP, another five players have managed to rack up three wins apiece. Felipe ‘ultraviol3nt’ Olivieri, Joao ‘Naza114’ Vieira, ‘Leqenden’, ‘Voca94’ and the aforementioned Renan ‘Internett93o’ Bruschi all have three wins to their name, while the list of 15 double winners includes Niklas ‘Lena900’ Astedt, Dennys ‘dennysramos2’ Ramos and Blaz ‘Scarmak3r’ Zerjav.
