The top 503 players will be in the money and 297 of them will have a shot at two six-figure mystery bounties in a unique payout format announced for the ClubWPT Gold $5,000,000 Invitational Freeroll at the WPT World Championship series on December 13.
The invite-only freeroll will hype the launch of WPT's new sweepstakes-model poker platform and it is only open to 2,000 players. A hair over 25% of them will receive at least a min-cash of $1,000, with the rest of the cashing players taking home up to a minimum of $20K for the final table of nine and $1,000,000 for first place. Notably, the $250K prize for the runner-up makes for a heads-up clash worth $750K.
Another $1 million in mystery bounty envelopes
On top of the $2,895,100 set aside for the top 503 finishers, $720K has been allocated for mystery bounties that start when 297 players are left in the event. The prizes start at $500 and top out with two $100K grand prizes, but that's not all. Additional mystery bounties have been set aside for the final table — solving the problem that most bounty events have when all of the top prizes are gone before the end. The final table mystery prizes start at $10K and the top prize is $200K, with one unlucky envelope that contains $0.
The enhanced mystery bounty format will make for an exciting conclusion and Joey Ingram tweeted an unconfirmed scoop about a "special arena" for a final table that will be streamed.
World Championship consolation prizes
The top 25% will make the money and nine of them will make the final table, but the rest will draw from a special consolation drum with 100 seats to the World Championship. The one-in-five chance at a seat in the $10,400 event will be available for players that bust before the final table.
The freeroll coincides with the WPT World Championships, running at the Wynn from December 3-23. In addition to the Dec. 13 freeroll, the series will also host the WPT Prime Championship from Dec. 8-24 and the WPT World Championship Main Event from Dec. 14-21.
