Jose Joaquin Rivera Ramirez takes down Event #6: $400 6-Max for $34,214

Jose Joaquin Rivera Ramirez Event #6 Champion Jose Joaquin Rivera Ramirez

Event #6: $400 6-Max No-Limit Hold’em drew a total of 578 players, creating a prize pool of $190,740, and Guatemala's Jose Joaquin Rivera Ramirez walked away with the $34,214 first place prize and their first WSOP circuit gold ring, plus a seat into the Tournament of Champions after 16 hours of play.

“It is amazing. I can't even tell you the sensation I am feeling,” Rivera-Ramirez told PokerOrg before being overcome with emotion and struggling to find the words to describe the moment. “I didn’t even know about the Tournament of Champions until a few moments ago, so it's exciting I may be able to add (another accolade) to my name.”

The final 87 players took home a min-cash of $806, and when the players reached the final table, Anthony Serino held the chip lead by about one million over Rivera Ramirez.

The first elimination of the final table didn’t take long as Zhiyan "Ben" Wang hit the rail in seventh place for $4,309, creating the official final table of six.

Nathanael Kelley was the next to fall in sixth place for $5,448, and Tim Shortell hit the payout line in fifth place for $7,523 before Jason Pasinski secured the first five-figure payout of Event #6 when he fell in fourth place for $10,629.

It took a while three-handed, but Daniel Losowski eventually bowed out in third place for $15,358, leaving the two chip leaders, Serino and Rivera Ramirez, battling it out for the gold ring.

Serino still held the chip lead as the heads-up match began, but after having his aces cracked by the rivered broadway straight of Rivera Ramirez’s ace-queen, he could never regain the momentum and hit the rail in second place for $22,681 when his was outflopped by Rivera Ramirez’s

“Once I saw the turn, I had a feeling (it was coming); I had a double gutter,” Rivera Ramirez said of the tournament-changing moment. “Sometimes I feel I’m going to lose the hand, sometimes I feel like I’m going to win the hand, and I got the good feeling on that turn card. We were all-in pre-flop, so after that, anything can happen.”
