Following an unscheduled Day Two, Russell Dizer emerged victorious in Event #4: $400 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em, taking home the $43,267 first-place prize, the gold WSOP circuit ring, and a seat into the 2025 Tournament of Champions.

“I want to cry,” Dizer said to PokerOrg as he was overcome with emotion moments after taking down the title. "It's awesome. I can't wait for the Tournament of Champions. I have been playing for 20 years and just love this game."

Event #4 drew a total of 797 entries and created a prize pool worth $263,010, with 120 players reaching the money and scoring a min-cash of $803 late in Day One.

Vincent Papasodero started Day Two as the short stack but quickly scored a ladder when Michael Aman hit the rail in ninth place for $3,654 as play got underway.

From there, the field was quickly whittled down to five, with David Booth falling in eighth place for $4,673, Papasodero falling in seventh for $6,078, and James M. Lodato falling in sixth for $8,037.

The five-handed play was a slugfest as Rocky Pierce, Andrew Fahey, Mark Booth, Dizer, and John Wolfson battled it out for the gold ring. Eventually, Fahey continued to press his start-of-day chip advantage as Pierce fell in fifth place for $10,803, scoring the first five-figure cash of the final table.

From there, Booth fell in fourth place for $14,753, and Fahey fell in third place for $20,469, setting a heads-up match between Wolfson and Dizer, with Wolfson holding the chip lead to start the match.

Heads-up was another slugfest with chips flying back and forth, with Dizer having to overcome Wolfson’s large chip lead on a pair of occasions. Eventually, he wore Wolfson down and sent him home in second for $28,267 when Wolfson’s was bested by Dizer’s

“John was such an incredible player. We had a good time.” Dizer said, "It was a tough grind; you never knew what was gonna happen, and you don't ever with this game. This was my first real heads-up in a big competition like this, and he made it really nice."

The win marks Dizer’s first WSOP Circuit ring and qualifies him into the 2025 Tournament of Champions.

“There are so many people that have influenced my game, and it would be too difficult to pick anyone, one person, two people, five people (to thank),” Dizer said to close the day. "However, thanks to my significant other, Alex, who has been on her phone on the rail all day, we weren't even supposed to stay here last night, so it's been a grind."
