Scott Allacher
The Council Bluffs Main Event came to an end after a quick 9-hour Day 2 which saw the final 26 become just one at the end which ended up being Scott Allacher who won his first ring and a career best $83,865 score.
"I was just running hot all day long, cards were just hitting me in the face." said the 60-year old Omaha native afterwards. And that was certainly the case as he started to accumulate a lot of chips with two tables left and built his big stack which he was able to wield powerfully the rest of the day.
It was not only about running hot however as
Allacher made a critical call late
in the final table against 15-time ring winner Josh Reichard with ace-high to pick off a bluff.
"That was the key hand. I knew he was a serious threat and he was starting to take control of the chips, but I had a sense he was bluffing and just made the call". That call put Allacher back into the lead, which he would hold for the rest of the time.
This win almost doubles Allacher's career earnings, which totaled a little more than $88,000 before this win for $83,865.
"I plan to play a lot more after this" he added indicating that he may become a more regular face around the circuit inthe near future.

Action of the Day
The day began with 26 players and was very quickly whittled down to 11 in the span of only about two hours. Play would slow down some at 11-handed and again at 10-handed as players become a bit trepidatious with the final table looming.
Allacher lead to start the final table by some distance with 110 big blinds with the next closest competitor having 57 bbs. Abbas Pasha, Kenneth Auker and Salvatore Termini were the first three to depart from the final table in 9th, 8th and 7th respectively.
Six-handed play was loaded with Angela Jordison and Reichard among the mix. It was at this point that Reichard began to accumulate chips and start to look like a serious threat to win his 16th ring. Jordison would then be eliminated in 6th place as her attempt to win a 2nd ring at this stop was stymied.
Marvin Donaldson was going for his 2nd ring of the series as well but he was taken out in 5th place when his aces were cracked by the king-jack of Allacher.
Reichard's attempt at sweet 16 eventually faltered in 4th place as he was not able to get much going after the aforementioned hand where he was called by Allacher.
Donnie Phan was then quickly dispatched in 3rd to deny his run at a third career ring to set up heads up play between Tim Garles and Allacher.
Garles talked about how it was going to be a cinderella story for him as he started the day as one of the short stacks, but his story one end one step too short as heads up play lasted for only about 15 minutes before Allacher closed it out for the ring.
That does it for Instant's coverage of the Council Bluffs Main Event. There are still two side events left to be completed before coverage is completed finished.
