Michigan Online Championship of Online Poker runs Feb. 20 through March 8
PokerStars Michigan launched on Jan. 29, as the first regulated online poker site to go live in the state. The world’s largest online poker operator didn’t waste any time bringing PokerStars’ flagship Championship of Online Poker series to its new Michigan platform.
The first-ever Michigan Online Championship of Online Poker (MICOOP) kicks off Feb. 20 and runs through March 8.
Like all editions of the PokerStars Championship of Online Poker, the MICOOP offers tournaments involving several different poker variants. The series culminates in Event #55: $300 Main Event ($125,000 guaranteed), which kicks off Sunday, March 7.

How to play tournaments in the MICOOP series
The MICOOP is only available on the PokerStars Michigan platform. PokerStars Michigan operates separately from all other PokerStars sites and doesn’t share player pools with PokerStars New Jersey, PokerStars Pennsylvania, or the main PokerStars international client.
Only players located in Michigan can play at PokerStars MI. You don’t have to be a Michigan resident, but you do have to be located within Michigan borders while you play.
PokerStars MI uses geolocation technology to determine your location when you login and try to play. If the geolocation services determine you’re outside of Michigan, you’ll be blocked from playing.
You can download PokerStars Michigan from the pokerstarsmi.com website. The online poker platform functions as part of an integrated site, which also features FOX Bet Sportsbook and PokerStars Casino.
Once you’ve downloaded the PokerStars Michigan platform, you can click on the “Cashier” tab at the top right of the lobby to make your first deposit. Accepted deposit methods include PayPal, Play +, online bank transfer, and approved credit and debit cards.
After depositing, click on the “MICOOP” tab at the top right of the lobby, just under the “Cashier” tab. This brings up a menu of all MICOOP tournaments, and you can click “Register” to get your spot in any of the upcoming MICOOP events.
Poker formats and the $300 Main Event
As per Championship of Online Poker tradition, the MICOOP features an extensive selection of tournaments outside of the standard No-Limit Texas Hold’em format. Poker variants on the MICOOP schedule include Stud, Omaha, Zoom, PKO, 5-Card Draw, mixed games, and a few others.
The $300 Main Event kicks off on Sunday, March 7 at 5 pm EST. You can re-enter the tournament up to five times, and Day 1 will play for seven-and-a-half hours before breaking for the night.
Players lasting through Day 1 return for Day 2 on Monday, March 8. The tournament plays to a champion from there as the first-ever MICOOP wraps up.
