EPT Barcelona is underway for the first time since 2019

Starting from August 8, 2022, the series will run until the 21st. During the next two weeks, an astonishing 61 events will be held at Casino Barcelona. These will all be run by PokerStars live as part of their EPT and ESPT brands.

This is the first time since 2019 that the European Poker Tour has returned to Barcelona. Europe has take the covid pandemic more seriously than the U.S. and most casinos spent the better part of 2020 and 2021 with blinds down and shutters slammed shut.

The reopening of Europe has been gradual, but this year has seen many of the biggest poker events return and the major poker rooms reopen.

The combined schedule means there is a far greater range of events. The ESPT is a mid to low-stakes series and so supplements the higher stakes EPT events nicely.

The schedule features some €250 low-stakes games at the low end. Most stakes are catered for up through several satellites and mixed games up to a €5,300 Main Event. There are even a few high roller events, including a €10,300 High Roller event and a €100,000 EPT Super High Roller Event

Eight of the events will be live streamed (see below for the full streaming schedule) on the PokerstarsLIVE website with Joe Stapleton putting in eight days worth of commentary to cover every single one of them.

American visitors may wish to take note that the dress code is casual, but shorts and sportswear will not be allowed. All players will need to bring photo ID to the casino

The Casino Barcelona is easily reached from Barcelona–El Prat Airport via shuttle bus or metro train into the city center and there are plenty of hotels nearby for those visiting from out of town.
