Community etiquette
- Be nice
PokerOrg has been designed as a place where fun and real conversations happen. We would rather have no conversations if they play out like the common modern social media toxicity. This isn’t a place for trolls, social media fights, or instigating anything other than engaging, fun, intelligent conversation. In short, be nice. - Real Room Rules
Our moderators operate under a Real Room Rules philosophy. If you wouldn’t say something to someone’s face while sitting at a poker table, don’t say it here. Our aim is to avoid much of the toxicity of other social media platforms. We prefer our community to interact as if they were in the same room. That’s why we encourage posting using real names. - Empathy and consideration
Think about how your words may impact others before you comment. One of our top priorities is to make this site a welcoming space that encourages empathy and understanding. - Handling arguments
Instead of escalating arguments, flag offending posts and/or notify the moderation team at moderators@poker.org. - Political discussions
Unless you’re talking about the politics of poker, avoid turning conversations here into political fights. - Disagree civilly
There will be times you disagree with others in the community. That’s fine. Keep it civil. - Don’t lie
Opinions are one thing. Lies are another. Opinions inspire discussion. Lies destroy discussion. - Stay on topic
Don’t derail a conversation because you’d rather discuss something else or to serve an outside agenda. - Respect moderation: If a comment is caught in the automod filter, deleted, and/or a request for editing or censoring is made, please be respectful of the decision.
