Online giant GGPoker has announced Alexandra Botez as the latest addition to GGTeam, its roster of sponsored pros. Botez is a successful player, commentator and streamer in the world of chess, holding the International Chess Federation rank of Woman FIDE Master.
Having previously won the US Girls’ National Championship, aged 15, and represented Canada in the Women’s Olympiad Chess Team three times, Botez has more recently focused on streaming chess to a rapidly growing audience. Together with her sister Andrea, Alexandra has grown the BotezLive Twitch and YouTube channels to over 1m subscribers each, winning Chess Streamer of the Year in 2022.
Now officially patched-up as a GGPoker ambassador, Botez will be helping to promote the game of poker alongside her work growing the chess community. She joins a team at GGPoker that includes Daniel Negreanu, ElkY, Fedor Holz, Jeff Gross and Kevin Martin.
‘KidPoker’ Negreanu (his choice of nickname) sat down for a chat and some heads-up action with ‘KidChess’ Botez (our choice) to discuss the similarities and differences between their best-loved games, and much more besides.
