Caesars Entertainment has announced that its contractors will start building a new casino in Virginia.
The property, to be called Caesars Virginia, is going up in Danville, VA and is set to cost around $650 million to build and will open in 2024.
The newly set up Caesars Virginia Twitter account also announced that the builders would be planting their first shovels in just a few days' time.
"Today, we announce that the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians joins @CaesarsEnt as a Joint Venture Partner in the $650 million Caesars Virginia development," wrote the account. "The project is set to break ground this week."
Caesars Virginia and the WSOP Poker Room
The property is being constructed in partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, an Indian tribe from just across the state line in North Carolina.
"This venture is a vital opportunity for our nation and our people. We are excited to be expanding our longstanding and successful partnership with Caesars Entertainment to develop a first-class resort that will be defined by luxury and service that Caesars' guests have known and come to expect," Richard Sneed, Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, explained to the press.
CET and the EBCI plan to get the doors open before the end of 2024. Once completed, Caesars Virginia will have a 500 room hotel, 1,300 slot machines, 85 dealer dealt tables, 23 electronic tables, a Caesars sportsbook, a theatre, a spa, multiple bars, and — important of all — a WSOP Poker Room.
There will also be 3,700 square meters of convention space for the poker room to spill over into during big tournaments.
"We are excited to build a world-class Caesars resort in Danville with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, a valued partner of Caesars Entertainment for more than 20 years," Anthony Carano, the President and COO of Caesars Entertainment, said.
"Caesars' diverse collection of destinations across the U.S. is synonymous with unparalleled service, impressive benefits through our Caesars Rewards loyalty program, superstar entertainment talent, and culinary excellence.
"We will bring these same phenomenal offerings to the Danville region for people to enjoy."
