Chris Moneymaker revolutionized the game of poker when he won the 2003 WSOP Main Event after qualifying through an $86 satellite on PokerStars. The popularity of the game – live and online – exploded, and the boom became known as the Moneymaker Effect. Moneymaker became a PokerStars pro, where he stayed until the end of 2020, and following his exit, he signed as an ACR Pro in 2021. Moneymaker remains one of the most well-known and popular players in the game and has launched his own live tour, the Moneymaker Poker Tour.
