Have you ever tipped opposing players at a poker table?

If you read my Ask the Org thoughts on tipping dealers, floor staff, and cashiers, you’ll see tipping is part of my DNA.

And, yes, I tip other players. There are innumerable opportunities to do so.

  • Just last week, I caught a player at my table acting as a back-up tipper. I tossed him a dollar and winked. He threw that dollar to the dealer too. Everybody was super happy.
  • We often have a bomb pot on dealer changes. Occasionally a player who usually sits out will put in their ante, saying, “I’ll give it a try.” Cool, here’s a dollar for staying in the pool.
  • If a fellow player makes a witty or insightful comment, I’ll toss ‘em a dollar. And I’ve tossed nickels for particularly clever lines. Look, I’ve paid way more for less entertainment.
