Calgary, Montreal and Toronto.
For a while, Canada had ZERO WSOP (International) Circuit events. A little more than a decade ago, smaller locations held Circuit events. This included WSOPC Richmond at River Rock Casino near Vancouver (DNegs played here!), and a stop at WSOPC Quebec at Casino du Lac-Leamy, Gatineau, a little far from Montreal but still accessible.
Since then, Playground Poker in Montreal started hosting stops regularly, and then Alberta joined in with three highly successful stops in the last year and a fourth coming up in May 2024.
Toronto has been making moves as well. The city only opened its first two poker rooms in the last year, and quickly put together a WSOP International Circuit stop at the Woodbine location. There will certainly be more stops here in the future, judging by the sold-out crowds at all eight events.
Poker in Canada is officially booming again, and it’s growing by the day!
