Alex Foxen is no longer qualified for the annual lists of best players without a WSOP bracelet. The Las Vegas resident took down the 2022 WSOP Event #50: $250,000 Super High Roller over the weekend, earning himself that long-awaited bracelet and turning his $250,000 buy-in into $4,563,700 in the process.
Despite being dressed as a twelve-year-old in a t-shirt and backwards cap, as a player 31-year-old Foxen is practically the holotype of the post-solver millennial high-roller. With his unreadable reptile-cold stare and computerized-strategy, Foxen is a nightmare to face across the table. He may not be the most exciting player to watch, but for sheer technical precision he is rightly considered one of the best in the game.
“I feel like the All-Time Money List can be a little misleading,” Foxen said in his post-win interview. “It’s not as important to me, because it’s a lot of who wins the biggest field and the biggest buy-ins. But it’s still a metric that has some value and it’s cool to move up on that list. What means the most is just consistent performance at the highest stakes, and this event is one of those. So it feels really good.”
Top of the world
Foxen is a high-roller regular. So, it doesn't come as a surprise that when he finally won his first bracelet it was in the most expensive event of the series, the 2022 WSOP Event #50: $250,000 Super High Roller.
So also doesn't come as a surprise that he was up against some of the best in the game when he won it. The final table he beat included big names like Phil Ivey, Sam Soverel, Dan Zack, Adrian Mateos, and Chris Hunichen.
With one bracelet in hand, Alex's next step is to break even in his domestic rivalry with Kristen Foxen (née Bicknell), who has two live WSOP bracelets of her own and a third from winning an online event.
“I don’t have a specific number in my head that I’m going after," Foxen said when asked about his bracelet goals, before adding, "The first step is to try and catch Krissy.”
Foxen tweeted a photo of himself with Kristen and his dog with the caption: "Thanks for all the nice words. This was a super fun tournament from start to finish. It was well worth the wait to get bracelet #1 in this one. Couldn’t do it without my two favorite beings."
